Thomas Gregory (UK) Vamoosh Workshop Brisbane

Sunday, 15 July 2018, 2:30 pm
at Animato Studios, next to Animato Strings, 789 Kingsford Smith Drive, Eagle Farm QLD 4009

Created by Thomas Gregory, Vamoosh offers a wealth of material, tried and tested in the classroom by ruthless and honest critics. The simple, accessible format with free motivating backing-tracks has reinvigorated lessons for teachers and pupils alike.

Books for Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass are all compatible with an emphasis on ensemble playing right from the start. There are now four levels in the series, plus books for Recorder and Flute with material that overlaps, ideal for school concerts.

Vamoosh Books

In a quest to find the perfect material for beginners who learn in a group environment, Thomas began writing material as soon as he started teaching. With input form highly experienced colleagues, a wealth of material was produced. Word soon spread, and after receiving requests from other teachers for the material Thomas saw an opportunity to create the book he wished he had had from the start. A book that would make life easier for teachers
by providing the motivation in a simple and clear format.

Thomas Gregory is currently Head of Strings at Haringey Music Service in north London where he teaches and directs ensembles. Aside from Vamoosh, he composes and arranges for youth orchestras and string ensembles. He performs regularly with his piano trio, conducts orchestras and teaches cello at the Centre for Young Musicians. He is regularly invited to present at teacher training forums as well as guest leading workshops in schools and music centres.

“Thank you for changing my world as an educator. We are all making music with a new-found excitement!” Eve Troiano, NY
